hosted:repository:retire

Permanently retire a hosted repository (irreversible; the ID can never be reused): all nodes of the repository stop being readable and cannot be restored. Local clones keep working offline but can no longer sync; publishing the graph again needs repo:init in a new directory plus a re-import under a new identity.

Reference for flywheel hosted:repository:retire.

Permanently retire a hosted repository. This is irreversible: the repository ID can never be reused, its nodes become unreadable on the hosted copy, and local clones keep working offline but can no longer sync. Retiring never waits on another user and never cuts their work loose silently: where a node in another repository continues from one of yours, that parent node is copied into their repository and their link re-pointed at the copy when copying shows it to nobody new, which means they could already read it and so can everyone their repository would show it to. Otherwise the link is removed and the removal is recorded for them with its reason. It requires --confirm with the exact repository UUID; --yes does not replace that confirmation.

Usage

flywheel hosted:repository:retire <FLAGS> <repository_id>

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredChoicesDescription
<repository_id>YesHosted repository UUID.

Required flags

FlagValueDefaultChoicesDescription
--confirmstringRepeat the repository UUID exactly; this write is irreversible and --yes does not replace it.

Optional flags

FlagValueDefaultChoicesDescription
--expected-headstringPin a reviewed hosted head instead of reading it: use none only when the reviewed head is null, otherwise sha256:<64 hex>.
--repostringLocal repository checked for an attachment to the retired identity; defaults to the working directory. If a given --repo can't be resolved or the repository's identity can't be read, the retirement still succeeds with a warning: a warning line on stderr, or, when the output is JSON (--format json, or a profile whose default format is json), an entry in the result's warnings field.
--formatFORMATjson, tsv, csv, tableOutput format for command results.
--envPROFILEUse a configured CLI profile for this invocation.
--outPATHWrite output to a file path, or use - for stdout.
--openOpen browser-bound URLs when supported.
--no-retryDisable transient-error retries.
--retry-maxNMaximum transient-error retry attempts.
--waitBlock on async operations until a terminal state is reached.
--wait-timeoutSECONDS600Seconds to wait for --wait before timing out. Defaults to 600.
--allow-selfAllow mutating the currently active credential.
--timeoutSECONDSSet the per-request timeout budget in seconds.
--idempotency-keyKEYReuse an Idempotency-Key so ambiguous write failures can be retried with the same key.
--forceForce safety-gated operations where supported.
--yesSkip confirmation prompts for destructive operations.
--debugPrint structured request debugging with secrets masked.
--verbosePrint verbose progress for long-running operations.
-h, --helpShow this help.

Examples

Retire a hosted repository you own, for good.

flywheel hosted:repository:retire <repository_id> --confirm <repository_id>

Retire a repository after reviewing a null hosted head.

flywheel hosted:repository:retire <repository_id> --confirm <repository_id> --expected-head none

After a head mismatch, inspect the new head and review its changes before deciding whether to retire.

flywheel hosted:repository:head <repository_id> --format=json

Only if retirement is still intended, explicitly repeat with the reviewed head.

flywheel hosted:repository:retire <repository_id> --confirm <repository_id> --expected-head <reviewed-head>
